Houghton Road Multi-Use Corridor Construction
August 9, 2010
No, Houghton Road is not being four laned (although that rumor is out there). The City of Kelowna is in the first phase of the Houghton Road “multi-use corridor” project. This a wide pathway for pedestrians, cyclists and other recreational users which is separated from the street and is intended to get bike and foot traffic off of Highway 33 and onto this safe, parallel corridor. When fully complete, the Houghton Road corridor is planned to run from Mugford Park at the end of Mugford Road all the way to Highway 97, where it will connect with the planned “Rails with Trails” corridor.
